Bells Diner is a legendary eating place in Stockbridge that has been serving up tasty nosh since 1972, and remains proudly, ‘untouched by progress’. It’s located on St Stephen street which has no shortage of cool bars, restaurants and shops to visit, but Bell’s should definitely be on your hit-list.
There is a small selection of starters to get you going, including fresh soup, chicken liver pate and a rump, chorizo and bean chilli but it’s really all about the burgers here. You can choose from beef in 4oz, 6oz or 8oz sizes, spiced lamb, chargrilled chicken, spicy bean or a nut burger. You can add various toppings such as haggis, egg, Stornoway black-pudding or jalapenos to name few. All the burgers are served in a classic sesame seeded bun, with salad, fries and the ‘famous’ relish tray.
There is a 10oz rump steak option as well and a selection of flavoured butters which are great to have on your burger too!
For dessert – take your pick from a lush selection of sundaes, banana-splits, pancakes, ice-cream or one of their daily special cakes and puddings.
They are fully licensed but you shouldn’t miss out on trying one of their proper super-thick milkshakes.
There are only a handful of tables, and as it’s a popular choice, with a lot of regulars, booking is advisable.
