Finn & Bear

Modern Leith eatery for brunch, lunch or drinks.

Operated by the same people who run the Pantry in Stockbridge and Colinton, Finn & Bear is a welcome addition to the range of bars and eateries on the Leith Shore.

It is situated on the shore itself in the space formerly occupied by the Salvation of Leith and, before that, the Leith Beer Company. They have transformed the rather dark interior into a much more welcoming, bright and open space. The seating arrangements in the front bar have been altered to make it feel much more homelier and intimate, with a mix of furniture, including comfy easy chairs and low-slung coffee tables by the windows which are ideal for coffee or drinks and watching the comings and goings along the Shore.

The back bar area is more set up for dining, and the menu does not disappoint. As expected, the breakfast/brunch options are pretty amazing but also on offer are beef or halloumi burgers, nachos and some tasty sharing plates. Veggies won’t be disappointed either.

The wine list is pretty decent too and they have a small but well curated cocktail list.

When I visited it was a grey drizzly morning but the place was buzzing, and there’s a lovely outdoor space which will be a great suntrap when the weather gods decide to smile on us.

It’s dog- and child- friendly too.
