La Petite Mort is a charming bistro in Tollcross serving up modern Scottish food with some quirky flourishes. It shares premises with Bennets Bar but is a separate entity, having its own entrance on Valleyfield street, although you can still enter through the bar which is very handy for a pre or post diner beverage.
They have really good value lunch and pre-theatre menus (it is right beside the King’s Theatre) with a wider a la carte choice if you are going for the full gastronomic experience. The menu is seasonal and ingredients are sourced from local suppliers as much as possible.
They have a well chosen wine list with many available by the glass. They make their own small batch cocktails too and have an impressive gin list, with over 80% sourced from Scotland.
It’s a relaxed and welcoming, candle-lit space, with walls painted a thundery dark blue/grey that is calming rather than oppressive. A shelved section on one side is filled with an interesting selection of curios and objet d’art.

La Petite Mort translates from French as ‘the little death’ and has quite a risqué connotation, but we’ll let you Google that yourselves… :-0
