Miss Woo’s has probably the most beautifully decorated walls of any pub in Leith, and is up there with some of the best in Edinburgh. It’s a mix of decoupage cut from various Japanese newspapers alongside some exquisite, hand-painted images of Geishas with a bit of graffiti and street-art thrown into the mix too.
The menu is a whistle-stop tour around the street food of Asia, with pillowy Bao-Buns, sticky dumplings, unctuous Ramen, and fiery noodle dishes all available. You can also choose from seven different flavour styles of chicken wings, or tofu wings if you prefer as non-meat eaters are quite well catered for here. It’s one of those places where the food arrives as it is ready and is particularly good for sharing. There are generally early week offers on food available, such as any 3 dishes and a cocktail or beer for £18.
They have a pretty wide selection of great draft and packaged craft beers alongside an interesting cocktail list, which again is quite Asian inspired. The bar staff know their stuff and can whip up any of the classics or go off list if you should desire. There are plans afoot to re-vamp the upstairs lounge room, which is currently closed, and greatly expand the cocktail offering. Who knows, we may be about to get a bit of speakeasy action down in Leith…?
Top tip – the Bangkok dirty fries topped with pulled pork, duck and house dirty sauce are awesome! So bad, but, soooo good!
