The Port O’ Leith Bar has always been one of the ’liveliest’ bars in Leith, if not Edinburgh. When late licences were not that common, a stream of taxis used to descend upon the Constitution street premises from just after midnight most nights, packing this tiny bar to capacity, and beyond!
On some nights you just had to dance on the bar as there was simply no room on the floor. 🙂
There have been a few changes of owners over the last few years and a lack of investment from the brewery owners and it had become a bit tired and dare I say – it a bit boring!
A long overdue refurbishment in 2017 worked wonders and the Port is definitely back on top form. The interior is a mix of urban salvage, distressed wood, scaffolding with a healthy nod to the area and the bar’s nautical heritage. Health and safety mean that dancing on the bar is no longer allowed (boo!) but if you are looking for a buzzing bar with great staff, tunes and drinks (they’ve probably got the biggest selection of rum, tequila, and gin in Leith) then the Port should be on top of your list!
They also have live music semi-regularly at the weekends, check their Facebook page for more details.
